The Vision

A place of rest, where Jesus gathers his disciples for renewal; and sends them forth again as stewards of his Gospel.

The apostles returned to Jesus, and told him all that they had done and taught.  And he said to them, "Come away by yourselves to a lonely place, and rest awhile."  For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat.  And they went away in the boat to a lonely place by themselves (Mark 6:30-32).

Many disciples came and went in the lives of the disciples at the time of Jesus, to the extent that the disciples had no leisure even to eat.  Likewise, with many of us, events and people also come and go into and out of daily experience; to the extent that spiritually, and perhaps emotionally, we too feel as if we lack nourishment at times.  We can feel busy, overworked, and spent at the end of the day.

For us, Holy Family Catholic Church is our place of rest.  This is our "lonely place," where we gather in solitude with the Master.  He is the one who has invited us to this retreat from the world, in order to give thanks and tell Jesus all we have done and taught; and to be renewed, and our peace strengthened, before being sent out again into the world for a week.
